Name-Based Case Searches
Indiana MyCase gives you three tabs: By Case, By Party, and By Attorney. For a Perry County name search, set the court control to Perry County first. It sits in the current dropdown. Your search then runs against that court's Odyssey records. It skips every other participating court.
- Choose By Party and select Perry County as the court.
- Enter the last name and then the first and middle name when known. A business search may need the exact name or a trailing wildcard.
- Add lawful distinguishing information and use status or file-date filters to reduce common-name matches.
- Compare case number, court, type, status, file date, and style before opening a result.
- Open the chronological case summary and verify that the events belong to the sought matter.
The inspected public interface exposed these fields. Labels may change after a portal update.
| Field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Search dependent | Use with By Party. |
| First / Middle Name | Text | No | Helps narrow matches. |
| Business Name | Text | Search dependent | May need exact text or trailing *. |
| Court | Dropdown | No | Select Perry County for local results. |
| Status / File Date | Choice / date | No | Advanced filters allow All, Open, Closed, From, and To. |
Perry County MyCase Search Paths
Each MyCase tab answers a different question. By Case takes one case number, citation number, or cross-reference number at a time. By Party works with personal or business names plus a date-of-birth range. By Attorney accepts a bar number or a name. A Sounds Like option covers fuzzy matching.
Four category filters exist: Criminal & Citation, Civil, Family, and Probate. They narrow a docket search but never replace the case-type code. You can also sort results by Case Number, File Date, Case Style, or Status Date. Either direction works. An ordinary search asks for no login and no payment. The public boundary is a CAPTCHA.
For the fine print, read the official MyCase terms source.

Those terms make clear that automated collection is not what the public search is for. Use the ordinary interface and respect its controls.
Case Number Searches
Case numbers from Perry Circuit Court start with 62C01. Under Administrative Rule 8, the 62 marks Perry County. The C marks Circuit Court, and the 01 marks the court sequence. A year-and-month group follows. Then comes a two-letter case-type code and a six-digit filing sequence. One structural misdemeanor pattern is 62C01-YYMM-CM-######. That string is only a format, not a live case.
Hyphens and leading zeros are optional, per the MyCase search tips. A trailing * widens a partial number, though it cannot stand in for the whole field. A broad search can hit the 1,000-result cap. A transferred matter may carry a changed number. A full-number search helps trace that history.
Perry County Wildcard Search Limits
The wildcard earns its keep at the end of a known stem. It will not rescue a vague query. Hit the result limit? Tighten the docket search. Use the Perry County court filter, a shorter case-number stem, a status, or filing dates. For party searches, add a first or middle name when the record supports one.
- Trailing wildcard
- An asterisk placed after known text to permit additional characters.
- Leading zeros
- Zeros in a number segment that MyCase may accept with or without display.
- CAPTCHA
- A challenge that blocks automated mining and may appear before results.
Expect the CAPTCHA wall on wide wildcard runs such as 62C01-2601-CM*. No party or docket data comes through it. Write down your exact terms, filters, and access date so you can repeat the search cleanly.
Case Search Results Explained
A result row is a doorway, not the whole Perry County court file. Check the identifying fields before you click. Inside, the public summary can list parties, events, hearings, charges, bonds, cross-references, related cases, and any document links available.
| Case Number | The uniform identifier, including the court and case-type code. |
|---|---|
| Style / Parties | The caption used to identify the case, not a complete party record. |
| Case Type | The category and Rule 8 code for the matter. |
| Filed Date | The date the case was filed. |
| Status | Open, closed, or another displayed state, with a separate status date. |
| Events | Chronological activity, including public hearing or order entries where available. |
A disposition tells you how a case or charge ended. It does not itself prove a conviction or civil liability. Read the order and its context where those documents are public.
Perry County Clerk Search Fallback
When a paper you expect is missing online, start with the MyCase access table. Then call the Circuit Court Clerk at 812-547-3741. Or visit 2219 Payne Street in Tell City during listed weekday hours. The clerk handles official records, older paper or microfilm, and copy questions. For court-process questions, call court staff at 812-547-7048.
Ask whether a public case-record terminal exists. The county confirms only a tax-warrant terminal. Requests can also go by the clerk's published fax, mail, or current email. Confirm the channel first. For records outside ordinary access, follow the judiciary request instructions.
One caution before you search citations. The official Indiana payment-search-field source explains why citation identifiers take a separate route.

That page shows why a citation number should never go into a cause-number field. Match the identifier to the official service built for it.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
Perry County runs no separate local case-search portal. MyCase serves as both the statewide portal and the county-filtered layer. The difference lies in your court selection, not in two rival databases.
| All Odyssey Courts | Perry County Filter |
|---|---|
| Searches participating courts across Indiana. | Limits results to Perry County Odyssey records. |
| Useful when the filing county is unknown. | Useful for a known local case. |
| More likely to return same-name matches. | Reduces unrelated county results. |
| Still subject to MyCase access limits. | Uses the same public summary and limits. |
Perry Circuit Court joined Odyssey on July 18, 2016, per the official court list. That date marks the system transition only. It does not promise that every older Perry County document was digitized.
Perry County Search Is Not Filing
MyCase is the read-and-search layer. Filing goes through the Indiana E-Filing System for eligible users under Trial Rule 87. An electronically filed notice does not mean every public user can open the document image. The chronological case summary can list an event. The paper itself stays counter-only or restricted.
For the boundaries, the official access-rule source lays them out.
The official access-rule source spells out these boundaries.

The rules draw distinct lines between ordinary public inspection, remote access, and requests for excluded records. Take the path that fits the specific item you want.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
Indiana Access Rule 5 spells out which court records stay off limits. Sealed, confidential, and protected cases fall under it. So do excluded, redacted, juvenile, and mental-health files. What the MyCase table hides varies by case type. Juvenile cases get no ordinary online access at all. Dissolution and some guardianship records may require an in-person visit before an eligible person can view nonconfidential items. Protection orders sit in a separate official search of their own.
Rule 9 offers a formal route to an excluded record. A verified written request starts the process. Notice follows, then a hearing when required, and a written order. Remember that knowing a case number does not guarantee access. Granted expungement material, sealed items, and in-camera records can all be absent from ordinary docket results. So can sealed items and in-camera records.
The judiciary's public-record rule collection publishes the full text of each access rule. It all sits in one place.

Start with that official rule text. A clerk can explain the process but cannot give legal advice.
Perry County and Federal Case Searches
MyCase stops at the state courts. Federal dockets sit elsewhere. Perry County falls in the Southern District of Indiana's Evansville Division, so federal case lookup starts with PACER and CM/ECF, each with its own access and fee rules. A cause number beginning 62C01 is not federal. Never enter one as though it were. The official Evansville Division page lists the federal courts and locations that serve the division covering Perry County.

That page confirms federal venue only. Perry County's federal cases run through that district, not through a second county trial court, and the Southern District CM/ECF lookup identifies the electronic filing system that handles each federal matter there.

Use that federal system for federal matters only. Indiana state cases and Perry Circuit Court files stay in MyCase and the clerk's official court records.
